Chakra Gallery is due to launch a ‘mini-retrospective’ art exhibition by local artist Keith Walker, this Thursday 14th December. One World Music is Europe’s ‘Number One’ online radio station for the genres covered and will be present at the event to interview Keith LIVE from Chakra Gallery.
Enjoy a glass of mulled wine and ambient music before a ‘Shamanic Flute Performance’ by Reiki Master Chrissie Sheppard, takes place in the Secret Garden. The gallery in which the exhibition is held will also be open and hosts artworks from over 36 local artists. Everywhere you look, there's art!
ART EXHIBITION BY KEITH WALKER Includes works from the following series:
‘Underwater Sunlight’ Work began in 2008 & continued in subsequent years when the model was pregnant with her first child, and then again when pregnant with her second.
“Initially, I will work in acrylic paint because I like to work quickly on several at a time and then, if I feel the painting will benefit, I will work over the top in oil paint.”
‘Pebbles & Puddles’ A series inspired by Keith's fascination with geology and love of found objects, pebbles, geological structures and mine pools. “… rain water reacts with the minerals in the mine waste to produce an incredible range of colours … But beware, the ground is toxic!”
‘The Scorched Earth’ Inspired by the pattern of burnt stubble in the fields during autumn season. Artworks are created by cutting and burning onto boards before including burnt on sections of roofing material, and other materials including sand, sand paper, cement & plaster.
‘The Thin Veneer’ Series of paintings provoked by the events of 9/11 & represent “my more serious work where I look at the times we live in & the human condition” explained Keith.
‘Nude Studies’ Working from the figure is another ‘die hard habit’ from Keith’s art school days. The nudes to be exhibited at Chakra Gallery on 14th December date back to a time when he lived in Cornwall and worked in the studios of Newlyn and St. Ives artists, long famous in art circles. Pen, chalk and pastels are the chosen media.
